H. Osborne Services (Pty) Ltd. (Hosbor), is an unlisted private company, with a valid
licence to manufacture and trade in “any kinds and classes of things”.
Hosbor is compliant
with the requirements of the South African Department of Trade and Industry (Cipro) and
the South African Revenue Services.
Hosbor is privately funded with sufficient reserves to support an inventory large enough to
cater for the launch of new products into the SADEC market.
Hosbor uses SMME single person enterprises for production where ever possible.
Strategic Intent
Hosbor aims to introduce affordable solar powered lighting to rural Africa.
Electricity accounts for 4% of the energy consumed in Africa.
Solar generated electricity is widely misunderstood and is often not used appropriately.
It is common to attempt to substitute or replicate the national electric grid with solar solutions.
This is not economical or practical. Household appliances and factory machines are not
designed to work off solar solutions.
